I see. Why do we need auto then if we could just set "us-east-1" manually? Also please document the new settings in the README instead of just the s3-spec-alt map internally so that other users can benefit from it as well. |

This adds support for using alternative storage with S3 compatible API's.
Some offer global endpoints. However I was not able to figure out how to add that. So if "auto" is set as a region it defaults to "us-east-1". There is probably a better way to handle this.
