Bluetoothctl command won't stop scanning #133585

The problem

From terminal, executing bluetoothctl starts scanning and won't stop. Issuing "bluetoothctl scan stop" yields
Failed to stop discovery: org.bluez.Error.Failed
How do I get bluetoothctl to operate properly?
