I'm having the same issue here.
I have to use another source because of that.

Had this issue too. I'm not sure, but I think changing subtitle language from hardsub to English fixed it. Now I'm back on hardsub and it still works. 🤷

I think the app might have been using subtitles that were only signs and text.

Edit: happened again, but no combination of settings seemed to fix it. Seems only new anime are effected. Maybe it's an issue on the source's end?
